Garden of All Seasons, Altona Memorial Park VIC

Cemetery Landscape Design and Planning, Melbourne

Altona Memorial Park faced with a shortage of rose memorials, the most popular form of internment at the Park, and a need to complete the “Garden Courts” into an enclosed group of secluded memorial gardens, Florence Jaquet Landscape Architect was engaged to design a garden which would compliment the other “courts” whilst being contemporary in its detailing.

The result was a garden with a seasonal theme, ornamental paving with botanical etchings [designed by Florence Jaquet who is also a botanical artist], reticulated and self-sustainable fountains and artwork under a central and shady arbour.

The memorial garden provides up to 6 different type of ash interments, catering for individuals, couples and families at different levels of affordability.  The design introduced artwork [from emerging Victorian sculptors] and drought resistant, yet ornamental, plantings not previously seen in the park.  All of this was achieved through a comprehensive consultation process with the Trust and ground staff.

Our office provided services from concept design, through to documentation and contract administration.  The project was delivered on budget.
